The skirt pattern is a good old Vogue 1247. I still wear my orange (Vogue 1247 Rachel Comey Outfit) and white (Vogue 1247 White Skirt) V1247 skirts quite often so why not add a printed version to my wardrobe?
I added the length even more to my already elongated TNT to make the most of the beautiful cascading print. The hem hits at the lower part of my knee.
Just so you know, if you are careful and always place an on-fold piece on fold, your skirt front should not have a center seam. You see, mine does... go figure.

Happy sewing, everyone!
Your skirt is gorgeous - and so are the other two - and so are your darling cats! I've made two of this skirt so far, one in stretch black cotton sateen for work for summer, and one in a beautiful piece of fine mohair suiting by Dormeuil that I got for a brill price from a men's shop that is destocking fabric... and I lined them both - the winter one cos it's easier than wearing a slip with tights, and the summer one as I thought it might stop the stretch bagging. One thing I did was to cut the back pieces as two not as four - I really didn't want a useless seam actoss my back.
ReplyDeleteI too find this design super comfortable and cute. Not too A-line but so comfortable!
Francesca, your skirt in Dormeuil mohair must be delicious!!! Nothing like a moment you find those great fabrics at an unbelievable price, right? :) And I must say, although Hong Kong finish makes the inside of the skirt look quite pleasing, adding the lining is definitely the way to go for the reasons you listed. Enjoy your V1247!
DeleteYour cat your skirt...both fabulous. I think the centre seam at the front of this garment isn't a bother.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gail! And yes, the center seam is not a problem at all ;)
DeleteI love the dresses and skirt that you have made using the wonderful CH print fabrics. The interiors of the garments are a well finished as the exteriors.
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey :) I usually like to line everything, but now that it's freaking hot here in AZ, I started to appreciate these unlined cotton skirt and dresses even more!
